This Easter Bunny Scavenger Hunt is a fun twist on the classic Easter egg hunt. It is simple and easy to prep, and lots of fun to play.

_______

Preparing the Easter Bunny Scavenger Hunt

The printable set for this Easter Bunny Scavenger Hunt is available in my Skills N Smiles Etsy shop. To prepare the game, purchase and download the listing.

_______

Next, print one copy of the “Hide the Bunnies” page, and cut out the bunny and egg pictures. Note: Printing this page on cardstock paper is recommended.

_______

Using tape gentle on surfaces, place the bunny pictures around your classroom, home, yard, or party space. Print one copy of recording sheet #2 and write down where each bunny is displayed or hidden.

_______

Then print a copy of the recording sheet for each person participating. There are two choices: 1) Mark off the found bunnies; 2) Write down where each bunny was found.

Have enough sharpened pencils to go along with the recording pages.

Lastly, print copies of the bunny coloring page and choose crayons, pencil crayons, or markers for the coloring activity.

_______

Optional: Prepare a treat bag or party bag for everyone who plays the game. Bunny and egg treats fit the theme beautifully. In addition to or instead of sweet treats, include items like gift cards, stickers, small toys, playdough, keychains, earbuds, jewelry, hair accessories and coins. Redemption prizes such as “pick the next family movie”, a coupon for an ice cream date, an extra story at bedtime, or “stay up one hour later” are also great ideas.

The Easter Bunny Scavenger Hunt

In this Easter hunt, participants search for 9 unique bunny pictures placed around an area designated for the activity. Everyone can start the game at the same time, or be assigned to begin in groups.

_______

Give everyone a recording sheet and a sharpened pencil. Recording sheet #1 is optimal for younger children. Recording sheet #2 is perfect for older children. Explain where the hunt will take place, and whether the pictures will be visible without having to move things, or hidden.

_______

To keep the activity low-mess, tell everyone that they do not need to move anything to find the bunnies. To make the activity more challenging, hide the bunnies.

Keep the answer key and give clues to where the bunnies are hidden if needed.

As participants finish, give them the bunny coloring page and art media of choice and have them decorate the picture. This is a great activity to help everyone unwind.

)_______

If desired, hand out treat bags or party bags after the festive activity is completed.

Benefits of the Easter Bunny Scavenger Hunt

Besides being super enjoyable, the bunny hunt activity encourages literacy skills, movement, and observation.

_______

This bunny hunt Easter activity is budget-friendly and requires little time to set up and clean up afterwards. Having one treat bag instead of the time-consuming task of filling numerous eggs with treats or toys and accessories is also a plus.

Variation of the Easter Bunny Scavenger Hunt

Instead of doing a bunny hunt as an Easter activity, you can have a bunny scavenger hunt anytime in Spring with this Spring Bunny Scavenger Hunt Printable Game.

Looking for a fun, low-prep activity for kids to do during a Thanksgiving get-together or an active play time? This simple and fun DIY turkey bowling game will get everyone moving. The crafted turkey-themed bowling pins blend recycling, creativity, and energetic play – a fantastic combination. Download the free printable in the post to make creating the festive bowling pins a breeze.

_______

Supplies To Collect

Just a few simple supplies are needed for this Thanksgiving-themed bowling game. Gather the following to make the pins and play the game:

  • large, clear juice or water bottles
  • craft foam sheets
  • markers
  • scissors
  • white glue or glue gun
  • small rubber or plastic balls

_______

Making the Turkey Bowling Pins

Children will enjoy helping create the colorful bowling pins for the DIY turkey bowling game, as they are simple to make.

To start off, select clean bottles to use for the body of the turkey pins. Large, clear bottles with solid bases work well. I feature juice bottles that hold approximately 1 ½ litres (6 cups) of liquid.

_______

Next, cut a round face and three or more tail feathers from craft foam colors of your choice. Feel free to use this printable as a pattern for the foam pieces.

_______

This printable is for individual or one classroom use only.

Then draw a turkey face on the round foam cutouts. Include eyes, a beak, and a teardrop-shaped snood.

_______

To finish off, use white glue or a glue gun to adhere the round face to the lower front of the bottle, and the tail feathers to the lower back.

The pins are now ready to be set up in a “bowling alley” in your home, yard, or classroom. Children can work as a team or individually to knock the pins down with small rubber or plastic balls.

Ugly Christmas sweater activities for young children and their families. Art, sensory, playdough, games, and cookie making.

_______

The Ugly Christmas Sweater trend has resurfaced, and for a few years I couldn’t figure it out. Having a passion for fashion, I didn’t understand why anyone would want to wear a tacky sweater. Until…I read that people host Ugly Christmas Sweater Parties, often to raise funds for charity. Then I saw purpose and humor in them.

Aside from wearing an ugly Christmas sweater, the trend shines in some easy to introduce early learning activities the whole family can participate in.

Ugly Christmas Sweater Trivia

1. Ugly Christmas sweaters became popular in the 1980s, and were sold under the name “Jingle Bell Sweaters.” They made a showy statement when worn by television or movie comedic actors.

2. They rose in popularity in the early 2000s when people began having “Ugly Sweater Parties”.  Events are often held in support of charities.

3. The city of Vancouver, Canada claims to be the birthplace of the “Ugly Sweater Party.” The first one was held in December 2002. An annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Party has been held at the Commodore Ballroom in this vibrant city every December since. It is a festive event for the Make A Wish Foundation Of Canada, a charity that grants wishes for children with life-threatening illnesses.

4. There are Ugly Sweater Runs. People run/walk a course that averages around five km long. At pit stops, they can get hot chocolate, coffee, a hat, mittens, etc. to help them stay warm and finish the race. Funds are raised from these walks for various charities.

5. A National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day, started in 2011, is celebrated on the third Friday of December. People can wear their ugly Christmas attire to work and school, and the day often has a festive, holiday feel.
